Are You Social?

I love this TV spot! Perfectly cast and executed! Actually quite a strong message about getting back to what being social really is all about. It’s easy to think we have “500 friends” and forget what true friendship entails; time, commitment and self-sacrifice. This commercial wrapped it all up for me in 30 seconds.

What’s cool is how this spot identifies with the active/interactive audience without offending the social media fanatics. It pokes fun in a non-offensive way. Pretty cool. Enjoy!

New Learning App for Apple iPad 2 by Evernote

New Learning App for Apple iPad 2 by Evernote

I LOVE Evernote! It’s one of the most useful apps I use on a daily basis. So I was excited to see this cool learning app using the Apple iPad 2′s flip cover. Very cool.

Here’s the description of the app from the Evernote site:

Evernote Peek App

Evernote Peek

Evernote Peek is the first app designed for the iPad 2 Smart Cover, making studying with an iPad more intuitive than ever before. Simply peek under the cover to prepare for a quiz, practice a language or strengthen your memory.

Here’s how it works:

Choose an Evernote notebook to study
Close the Smart Cover
Peek under the cover to see a clue, lift the cover further to see the answer
Repeat

Closing the Smart Cover advances the app to the next clue.

Sherwin Williams TV Spots Hit the Mark

Something about these commercials by Sherwin Williams always makes me stop fast-forwarding my DVR and sit back and enjoy. I’m a sucker for great graphic animation anyway, but I think Sherwin Williams outdid themselves with this series of spots.

I’m left with an impression that any color known to man is available to me on a paint chip. Brilliantly executed and remarkable.

Check them out.

Cause Marketing Works (But it must be authentic!)

Fireworx Digital has had the privilege of working with Guy Harvey Sportswear, Guy Harvey’s exciting growing clothing line, over the last year and a half or so. CNN featured Guy Harvey’s cause marketing success recently and I thought Colleen McEdwards did an excellent job communicating how cause marketing must be authentic to be effective. It’s not enough to slap a cause on your website’s homepage. It’s exciting to work with a client like Guy Harvey and AFTCO Bluewater, Guy Harvey’s clothing licensee and manufacturer. For them, cause is a part of their DNA. It’s who they are, not something tacked on to increase sales. Guy Harvey and Bill Shedd, President of AFTCO Bluewater have a love for the ocean and it’s inhabitants that goes beyond cause. Ocean conservation is truly their passion…and it shows.

Check out the video report on CNN.

Amazing Whiteboard Talk

I love this video! This is truly cognitive communication at its best. Oh, and the subject matter is truly eye opening as well. Some very interesting research about what motivates people. It’s worth the 10 minutes to watch this.

I Love Fireworks

I love fireworks. Always have. Hence the name of our digital marketing agency. Fireworks always inspire. They exhilarate. They can’t be missed. This animation by PES is a creative take on fireworks. I had to post it!

iPad Plus Velcro = <3

I had to share this video. I am fast becoming an iPad fan. I hear all the objections…it’s just a giant iPhone, it doesn’t play Flash, it doesn’t have a camera, you can’t combine ATT  3G accounts with your iPhone, etc, etc. But all that aside, this may simply be the most “business-lifestyle-marketing-sales-productivity-daily-task-altering-object-of-desire” the common man has ever seen.  This little video shows iPad’s awesome versatility using an inexpensive velcro strip.

How Do You Handle Failure?

How Do You Handle Failure?

I’ve heard it said that failure equals growth. Well, if that is truly the case, then a lot of growing’s been going on in 2009! How do you handle failure in your life? What is your attitude when the bottom is dropping out of your industry, your project, your business, your life?

According to John C. Maxwell, author of  Failing Forward: Turning Mistakes into Stepping Stones for Success we either panic and repeat failure over and over again, or we learn from our failures and grow.

Check out this great video…

Here are The Five Rules of Life
1. You will learn lessons
2. There are no mistakes, just lessons
3. A lesson is repeated until it is learned
4. If you don’t learn the easy lessons they get harder
5. You’ll know you’ve learned a lesson when your actions change

My wife and I saw this video this morning and were reminded again how failure is part of life and a stepping stone to success if handled properly. So let’s all learn our lessons and fail as achievers!

How Do You Spell Social Media? R-O-I

We live in a world where interruption marketing continues to slide into oblivion. Our lives are busier than ever and the clutter around us is deafening. Yes, it’s time-consuming, takes a big commitment to stick with it, and it’s hard to track ROI, but the fact is, social media is here to stay and it’s changing the way we market all products and services to consumers and to other businesses.

We’d love to talk with you about your social media marketing challenges. Give us a call if you’d like to discuss the possibilities for your business.
